Harewood House

You don't need to swap Leeds for Lapland this year for a truly festive experience - your favourite attractions have got plenty of fun planned

Set in the beautiful grounds of Stockeld Park, near Wetherby, The Christmas Adventure is winter fun at its nostalgic best. Visitors to the Estate can enjoy a host of rosy-cheek inducing outdoor activities and, from dusk, illuminations add to the magic. Visit Santa in his magical grotto, or see the mystical creatures living in the enchanted wood. This Christmas extravaganza is second to none

It may be icy cold outside but one sure-fire way of feeling the heat in Leeds this Christmas is by paying a visit to Tropical World in Roundhay Park. Every night from 18th to 23rd December at 5-8pm, the popular visitor attraction will once again be transformed into a Caribbean paradise as it becomes Totally Tropical Christmas.

It snows every day at SnoZone at Xscape in Castleford so active types should head there for a skiing, snowboarding or toboggan session. There's even an Ice Slide for the extra adventurous!

Leeds welcomes the UK's largest temporary ice skating rink The Ice Cube on Millennium Square from January - March. There's no need to worry if you have never skated before as the friendly team of Ice Marshals provide tips and advice on how to stay on your feet.

Historical houses are at their most stunning at Christmas, offering both wintry walks around the grounds and warm festive events inside the home. At Harewood House you can visit a craft and gift fair or get involved in a decoration making session. Temple Newsam House is beautifully trimmed for a Victorian Christmas and here you can enjoy evenings of musical entertainment along with mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine.
