Stunning Photography Exhibition Exposes Hidden Backstage World of Opera

This winter, White Cloth Gallery in Leeds hosts Behind the Curtain, an exhibition of new photography exposing the hidden world behind-the-scenes at one of the UK’s major opera companies. Yorkshire-based photographer Tom Arber spent a week in residence with Opera North in September 2014, as the company prepared for a new production of Verdi’s La traviata.

Yorkshire Team at The Great British Salted Chocolate Challenge Final

Sun and Stephen Trigg, of Lauden Chocolates, in Kirkstall, Leeds will take on the some of the countries most talented Chocolatiers in the National challenge to make Britain’s best salted chocolate. Sun and Stephen have been working towards presenting their salted creations in London on the 6th November at the Judging Event with their eye on the prize including a trip of a lifetime to New York, £500 Cash, or the runners up prize of the competitor’s body weight in chocolate! But more importantly a chance to get their salted chocolate fast tracked into a top London Food Hall in time for Christmas 2014.

Work of agricultural engineer John Fowler to be celebrated at Leeds museum

Marking the 150 year anniversary of his untimely death, the work of John Fowler, who was a pioneer in the development of steam engines for ploughing and inventions which changed the course of agricultural practice, will be showcased at Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills.
