Magical Leeds Christmas Lantern Parade

On Saturday 12th December, Leeds will host a magical Christmas Lantern Parade, led by Ronnie the giant Reindeer, and a stunning, giant illuminated white owl.

A fun-filled event for the whole family, the Christmas Lantern Parade begins at 5.30pm at the iconic Kirkgate Market, and will wind its way the through the city’s magnificent attractions and landmark sites, including Leeds Art Gallery and Victoria Gardens.

Accompanied by the wonderful sounds of Yorkshire’s New York Brass Band playing Christmas inspired tunes, this illuminated spectacular will host a procession of festive handcrafted candle lanterns, transforming Leeds into a fantastical winter wonderland.

The parade will also include a beautiful illuminated Snow Queen which will glide magnificently through the streets of Leeds, alongside larger-than-life Winter Wonderland Birds. At 3m high and 3.2m wide, these glorious giant birds are illuminated with incredible light effects, and will be sure to amaze spectators.

There will also be lots of exciting activities to keep the little ones entertained, including face-painting before the parade, as well as the chance to meet, and have their photo taken with, real life reindeer in Kirkgate’s outdoor market until 4pm.
