Leeds Corn Exchange - September and October 2016 Events
Celebrate independence with a visit to Leeds Corn Exchange where as well as almost 30 alternative, individual, independent businesses there are a selection of events taking place in the coming weeks offering the chance to celebrate the building’s history, enjoy a 30-minute Lindy Hop class and meet some retired American footballers.
Thursday 1st September
NFL fans can celebrate the arrival of the new season with the biggest ever nationwide fan forum road show, NFL UK Live: Countdown to Kickoff. Join some of the BBC and Sky Sports’ NFL broadcasters, former NFL players, special guests and appearances by the ROAR of the Jacksonville Jaguars Cheerleaders. There will also be a giant inflatable American football and interactive game, making it fun for all the family.
Heritage Open Days
Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th September
Enjoy the stunning heritage of Leeds throughout the weekend. On Saturday 10th September, take a walk up Kirkgate focusing on the mesmerising Medieval and Georgian periods, finishing at the Corn Exchange where visitors will then go inside and see an collaborative exhibition from the Corn Exchange and Leeds Gallery. Part of the national weekend which celebrates the best of our heritage buildings, the event will showcase an exhibition of a number of antique images of in and around one of Leeds’s oldest and most famous buildings; our very own Leeds Corn Exchange.
Leeds Baby Show
Saturday 10th September 2016
Showcasing a variety of Yorkshire baby businesses, the Leeds Baby Show isn’t one to be missed. As well as shopping for the essentials, expectant mums can learn all about natal hypnotherapy and acupuncture, and there will be a raffle for two fantastic children’s charities: Bliss and Sands.

The monthly record fair returns to Leeds Corn Exchange for those that just can’t get enough of vinyl. Catering to all ages, tastes and budgets, the record fair is an absolute must for music lovers.
Love Arts Festival
5th – 20th October
The sixth annual Love Arts Festival features two exhibitions: HIGHLIGHTS is an open group show of work by Arts and Minds members, who develop a range of 2D mediums, style, and content, and The Art of Recovery, which includes 3D work and also some poetry.
Friday 14th October
£5 entry including a free drink from Primo’s
Time to get on your dancing shoes! Open to anyone and everyone, dance lovers can enjoy a 30-minute Lindy-Hop swing dance taster class, followed by an evening of dancing at this regular celebration of the infectiously joyful dance that originated in 1920s Harlem, New York. Dancers can fuel themselves on authentic American dogs and burgers from Primo’s with their free drink.
Unique Gift Fair
Saturday 22nd and Saturday 29th October
Unique gifts can be difficult to find on the high street, which is why shoppers love the Unique Gift Fair. With a huge selection of gifts ranging from jewellery, fragrances and candles to photography, bespoke furniture and artwork, there really is a gift to be found for everyone. The Unique Gift Fair is free entry for all.
Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair
Sunday 23rd October
Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair is a firm favourite with fashionistas across the country and truly lives up to its ‘affordable’ name, with all items price checked to ensure shoppers are paying up to 75% less than high street prices. Selling in style vintage clothing, textiles and homewares, the UK’s largest vintage fair of its kind returns to its home city of Leeds on Saturday 4th June with a selection of vintage, re-worked and handmade stalls all hand-picked by fashion experts.
