Black Dyke Brass Festival returns to Leeds Town Hall
The world’s most famous brass band, Black Dyke Band returns to Leeds Town Hall with guest community bands to perform a gala concert on Sunday 5 June at 3pm.
Joining the Black Dyke Band are various community bands including Yorkshire Youth, Armthorpe Elmfield, Blackley, Delph, Kirton and Trentham bands. The concert includes a grand finale with over 200 musicians performing Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, Land of Hope and Glory, a soloists showcase and Wagner’s magnificent Procession to the Minster!
Black Dyke Band is the most successful contesting band in the world, having won the British Open no fewer than thirty times and the National Championship of Great Britain twenty-three times. Black Dyke is also the most recorded band in the world with over 350 recordings to date.
The concert features special guests and stars of tomorrow the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band. The band was formed in 2006 under the guidance of Dr Nicholas Childs with the support of Leeds Metropolitan University to inspire young people aged 11-21 in full time education who have already achieved Grade 4.
