Nadiya Hussain shows off her great British bakes at The Merrion Centre

Nadiya Hussain will be returning to her former stomping ground this month when she hosts a baking demonstration at the Merrion Centre, as part of the Leeds Indie Food Festival.

Nadiya will be visiting the city where she lived for over a decade with her husband and children to take part in the annual food-focused event and show off her show-stopping baking skills.

The demonstration will take place at Merrion Shopping Centre on Thursday 26th May from 12 noon. The event will be free for all to attend and Nadiya will be sharing some of her top tips and tricks and demonstrating some of her favourite recipes. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get autographs and photos with the Bake-Off Queen.

Nadiya said: “I always love coming back to Leeds, particularly when it’s to be part of events such as the Leeds Indie Food Festival. I loved being here at the Merion Centre last Christmas and everyone was so welcoming, so I couldn’t wait to return. The boys like coming back up north too – they’re very proud of their Yorkshire roots!

“Leeds as a city has lots to offer in terms of different cuisines and is really starting to position itself as one of the foodie hot spots of the north.”

Helen Green, associate director at Town Centre Securities, said: “We’re really pleased to be welcoming Nadiya back to the centre, after such a successful visit last year. Visitors to the centre loved seeing her in action and can’t wait to see what dishes she’ll bake up this time.

“The Leeds Indie Food Festival is a great way of showcasing the wide and varied food culture the city has to offer and we’re delighted to be a part of it.”

Nadiya will be talking through how to whip up some of her signature dishes as she promotes her upcoming book, Nadiya’s Kitchen, which will launch in June.

With chapters ranging from Lazy Sunday Mornings to Midnight Feasts, Sharing Lunch to Dinner Date, there’s a dish for any time of the day. She offers innovative twists on traditional classics and the perfect recipe for those staple meals and bakes we all turn to, including; Beetroot and Mackerel Crescents, Cod and Clementine, Manchego and Chorizo Calzone, Bengali Korma, Crispy Taco Chicken Salsa Cups, Churros French Toast, Virgin Mojito Lollipops, Mango and Parsley Pavlovas and Salted Pretzel Fudge.
