Holbeck favourite representing Leeds in Michelin Eating Out in Pubs 2016
The Cross Keys on Water Lane has been announced as Leeds’ sole entry in the Michelin Guide’s Eating Out in Pubs 2016, released today.
The guide, which is available in bookshops from Friday 30th October, recommends more than 590 pubs spread all over Great Britain. The Cross Keys, part of the North Bar group, is one of just four pubs named in West Yorkshire, and the only venue in Leeds to have been included.
Utilising British, locally-sourced produce, the pub focusses on traditional favourites like Sunday roasts and fish and chips, but with a gourmet twist.
The Cross Keys’ inclusion in the guide follows its being named Runner-Up in the Observer Food Monthly Best Sunday Lunch Awards 2016, and inclusion in the Michelin Good Food Guide 2016.
With recent development in the Holbeck region, including the £17m project to expand Leeds railway station and create a southern entrance, The Cross Keys is anticipating great things for the area.
Co-director Christian Townsley said ‘We’re so pleased that The Cross Keys has been named in the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide 2016. It’s great to see that pubs over the country are being recognised for providing the quality food and service diners demand. We’ve seen the face of Holbeck change in the past ten years, and are excited about what’s to come.’
Cross Keys was the second venture of the North Bar group, who now have six venues all over Leeds and further afield, with a new venture opening in Harrogate in 2016. The original North Bar in Leeds City Centre is considered by many to be the first ever ‘craft beer bar’ in the UK.
