BATTLE OF THE BANDS FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FINAL FIVE TO PLAY LIVE AT THE LIGHT ON SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER IN FREE PUBLIC SHOWCASE
This Saturday, five unknown bands will battle it out at The Light to be crowned Leeds’ best new band.
Hosted by The Light and Radio Aire, the Battle of the Bands final will take place from 5pm to 10pm in The Light’s Courtyard. Open to the public, the FREE event will include a pop up bar hosted by Tiger Tiger and performances by last year’s winner Issimo and runner up Benson.
Having submitted video auditions over the last month, the five finalists performing on Saturday are:
• Pop, Rock and Electronica four-piece Victors
• Blues and R&B singer/songwriter Andy Taft
• Rock/Funk with anthemic vocals from Late Night Legacy
• Classic indie from The Contravenes
A judging panel, including representatives from Radio Aire, Music Room and Leeds Student Radio, will pick the overall winner who will be announced on the night.
The winning band will receive an incredible prize package, including being able to play a VIP event at Leeds First Direct Arena with Radio Aire on 16 November, £1,000 cash, coverage on Radio Aire’s Home Run gig tickets, an electric guitar courtesy of Music Room and £100 to spend at Frankie and Benny’s.
