Pickles and Potter is a fabulous deli and sandwich shop in Queens Arcade. It's ethical and organic range of fresh meats, farmhouse cheeses, ripe fruit and veg, tempting cakes and tiffins, and tasty beverages make this a keen favourite in Leeds.

In keeping with the grand and glorious Victorian surroundings of the Tiled Hall Café, it would be most rude not to indulge in a delicious Yorkshire cream tea, or a traditional afternoon tea for two. Try the local produce in the form of home-baked scones with Leyburn jam and Northallerton Clotted Cream.

Push the boat out and head to Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor Café for champagne tea for two. This includes a trio of sandwiches, shortcake, brulee tart, mini pavlova, cupcakes, homemade mini scones with Normandy butter, Chantilly cream and a choice of Rosebud preserve. Wash it down with a glass of champagne. Ahh the good life!

Why not take a refreshment break seated underneath Britain's largest stained glass roof. A full afternoon tea at Anthony's Patisserie involves a pot of tea with a selection of finger sandwiches, warm homemade scone, clotted cream, strawberry preserve, followed with a selection of cakes and fancies. The perfect reward after a tough day's shopping!

The Gatehouse at Kirkstall Abbey is a beautiful place to stop for tea after an invigorating walk. It also has an outdoor seating area so that visitors can enjoy the food and drink whilst looking out onto one of Britain's best preserved and most romantic Abbeys.
