Set-up in December 2006 by graduate artists Zoe Sawyer and Anna Tonks theartmarket's studio/ shop/ gallery hybrid provided an antithesis to the standard gallery model, a showcase for contemporary art in Leeds utilising a vacant market unit in the heart of the city. With a DIY ethic, theartmarket has endeavoured to raise the visibility of visual arts in Leeds, promote and attract critical attention to the resident creative scene and draw artistic activity to Leeds.
The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery is the new name for the University of Leeds art collection. The collection now benefits from a large, dedicated space at the heart of the revitalised gallery. The Education Room houses the University's collection of drawings and other works on paper; it also offers designated space for private study, research and teaching, relating to both the collections and the exhibition programme. The Special Exhibitions Room provides a generous space for the annual programme of temporary exhibitions.
There are various parts of Leeds College of Art & Design used to display art exhibitions. These spaces include the Long Gallery, The Mosaic Café at Blenheim Walk, and The Atrium Gallery.
