Leeds West Indian Carnival is the longest running West Indian carnival in Europe, having been going since 1967.

Fuji Hiro is one of Leeds' hidden gems. It has a simple decor but the food is fantastic and great value for money.

Leeds Art Gallery houses a world class collection of 20th century British art and presents exciting temporary exhibitions including the Northern Art Prize. Leeds Art Gallery is a great place for all ages.

Leeds United AFC , the city's premier football team, are based at Elland Road Stadium to the south of the city. Stadium tours are available even on match days.

  • Visit Leeds in Summer for special offers! Why put up with sand in your sandwiches at the seaside when you could look hot in the city's parks and by the river instead?
  • Visit Leeds again in January and February for special offers! Catch the January sales too!
  • Download a podcast of the city and take a free guided tour of all the landmark sights
  • Come by train - National Express have regular good deals, including an £8 single fare from London.
  • Free exercise! The city is so compact that you can walk everywhere - or hop on the free city bus.
  • Stay at a campsite or in one of our city centre budget hotels.
  • Shop at Kirkgate Market or one of our many thrift stores for some one off bargains.
  • Even if your student days are far behind you, you'll appreciate a visit to Headingley for some good food and drinks deals and a lively atmosphere.
  • Enjoy a free lunchtime concert recital as part of Leeds International Concert Season, or soak up some free live music every night of the week in Leeds bars and pubs.
  • Visit one of our many fantastic free attractions, including Royal Armouries, Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds City Museum, Kirkstall Abbey and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
  • Tickets to the theatre in Leeds are around 2/3 of the price of a London performance. Same for cinema tickets - take advantage whilst you are here!
  • Late night bars have no entry fee - go to Call Lane and Merrion Street for dancing til dawn.
