A series of Tuesday afternoon talks taking place on the first Tuesday of each month at 2pm and covering different aspects of the life and work of Charlotte Bronte to celebrate her bicentenary.

5th July - Charlotte Bronte's Dark Masterpiece - this talk will explore the genesis
Villette and delve into the secrets of this novel.

2nd August - Charlotte and her Friendships - this talk shows how friendships sustained Charlotte through difficult times and have left us with rich sources of
information about her life.

6th September - Charlotte and the 'Woman Question' - this was a hot topic in the Brontes day and this talk examines Charlotte's response to the issue.

4th October - Persons of Significance - What was Patrick Bronte's relationship with his third daughter Charlotte.

1st November - Early Responses to Charlotte's Published Writing - this talk explores the responses to Charlotte's first and most successful novel, Jane Eyre.

6th December - Charlotte's After Life - this talk looks at the different prisms through which we have viewed Charlotte's life and work, and the reason our picture of her has altered so much over time.
