Leeds Classic Bus Run Day

Leeds Classic Bus Run Day

Travel on vintage buses for free and visit our two industrial museums for the price of one!

Travel in vintage style, and for FREE from the city centre to Leeds Industrial Museum, Thwaite Mills and Middleton Railway on beautifully restored Leeds City Transport buses from the 1950's and 60's*.

There will also be a classic car show and plenty of other transport themed activities on the day.

Purchase a ticket to either Leeds Industrial Museum or Thwaite Mill and gain free entry to the other one on the same day! Simply produce your ticket to take advantage of the offer. (Please note: this offer is not valid at Middleton Railway)

* Please note folded wheel chairs and prams can be carried on most of the vehicles taking part but due to the age of the buses they may not be fully accessible.

This is a free event, but usual museum admission applies.

The event will be based at the Thwaites Mill complex and will run via Middleton Railway, Leeds bus station, (New York St.) Leeds railway station, (stop Z1) and Armley Industrial Museum. Returning via Leeds city centre, New York Street and terminating at Thwaites Mill.

Intensive operation is the name of the game this year and deletion of the Kirkstall Abbey and Temple Newsome routes mean lots more city centre running. An increased timetable, with up to eight vehicles on the road at any one time gives the enthusiast plenty of opportunities to sample a wide variety of Leeds vehicles in their home environment. Operations start at 10 30 am

We have been promised a wide variety of vehicles, subject of course to them being operational on the day and this should provide an interesting journey back in time to the Leeds before and after deregulation.

At Thwaites Mill we will have a small static display of ancillary vehicles, Keighley and Dewsbury bus museum stalls and hopefully the launch of a new book on WYPTE vehicles.

Light refreshment and toilet facilities are available at every stop and of course the city centre is only moments away.

A programme will be available on the day from the bus crews or the dispatchers and inspectors at the intermediate stops.
