During this workshop you will explore a variety of materials and techniques, discovering how to use them to develop your own creatures. Starting with the head you will discover ways of suggesting character, expression and form using air dry clay, wire working, textile construction and assemblage as a means of sculpting.
Participants will be gently guided through developing ideas and will be encouraged to experiment with material combinations. Through doing so, they will unearth the beginnings of their own characters. Enjoy discovering what you can achieve with your own skills and a touch of Samantha’s imagination to inspire.
Samantha Bryan is a mixed-media artist based in West Yorkshire. Her sculptures evoke a sense of nostalgia, escapism and make-believe necessary to remove the viewer temporarily from their worries. She has mainly generated work for display in large themed/solo exhibitions, providing her with extensive experience at producing work that is of a high quality.
All materials are provided for you but Samantha would like you to bring along:
•A personal collected 'treasure' to include in your own creation; an item that holds special meaning for you. For example, a beautiful button or special fabric scraps.
