Over the summer solstice, Haroon Mirza will create a new work in James Turrell’s Deer Shelter Skyspace at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Mirza will temporarily attach a photovoltaic panel to an interior wall of the Skyspace which, when activated by direct sunlight, will use the sun’s energy to power an immersive audiovisual installation.
The electricity generated by the sun will be perceived both visually via the illumination of the LEDs and acoustically through a connection to a loudspeaker.
