Leeds Grand Theatre is home to Opera North and is the performing home of Northern Ballet Theatre. It regularly stages internationally renowned productions including West End and Broadway musicals, dance and drama.
The theatre is widely regarded as a major milestone in Victorian theatre building. Seating approximately 1550 at full capacity, the auditorium provides a home for performances of all types. An enormous range of notable dance, drama, comedy and music productions have been seen at The Grand.
Critically acclaimed companies, Opera North and Northern Ballet Theatre have their residencies here at The Grand.
The Howard Assembly Room further down New Briggate was built at the same time as The Grand and has recently been restored and reopened as the city's leading avant-garde contemporary arts space. Expect anything from sound installations and photography exhibitions to folk gigs and spoken word events.

From its opening night in 1878 with a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ right through to its vast selection of productions today, Leeds Grand Theatre has remained one of the country’s most prestigious theatres.
