Details

A small gentry house with medieval origins and alterations in 16th, 18th and 19th centuries. There is a recreated Elizabethan knot garden under construction.

Guided tours of the historic house by the owners. Groups can bring light refreshments and can come on any day or evening by arrangement.

Minimum 15 and maximum 25 people per group - maximum 50 in summer.

Sir Simon Jenkins included Longely Old Hall in his book 'England's Thousand Best Houses'; in which he describes the hall as 'an architectural goldmine'.

Open bank holidays for pre booked guided tours, starting each day at 11am and 2pm:
Good Friday
Easter Saturday to Monday
August Bank Holiday to Monday

Christmas opening: Open 26 to 30 December with two guided tours each day starting at 3pm and 7pm.

All guided tours must be pre-booked.

Groups welcome at all times by prior arrangement.

Prices

£6.00 per person for Bank Holiday open days.

£10.00 per person for groups.

By Road
Take Wakefield Road out of Huddersfiel town centre. Turn right on to Somerset Road; right onto Dog Kennel Bank which leads on to Hall Cross Road. Turn right on to Lowerhouses Lane and immediately right into a lane called 'Longley'.

By Public Transport:
From Huddersfield bus station take the 327 to Almondbury. Exit the bus on Longley Road. Longley Old Hall is situated on Longley Lane.
