Comedian, author, poet, broadcaster, lecturer, educational guru, after-dinner speaker and born raconteur - Gervase Phinn is perhaps best known for his best-selling series of five Dales books for Penguin. Affectionately dubbed 'the James Herriot of Schools', Gervase has written a wide range of academic books, children's poetry and fiction and is a columnist on the Yorkshire Post and The Countryman. A natural storyteller, he combines the timing of the professional comedian with palpable warmth and the ability to deliver a message that is more than just a series of jokes. Phinn will have you on the edges of your seats, as he shares his hilarious and sometimes poignant tales of life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales.
