Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo has recently been voted into the top position of "the greatest film of all time" by the BFI's magazine Sight and Soundpanel, which meets once a decade. This has replaced Orson Welles's Citizen Kanewhich held the spot for 50 years. It's the story of retired cop (James Stewart) with a fear of heights, who is asked to investigate the strange activities of an old friend's wife (Kim Novac), all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her ... and most importantly, the film features a bell tower! The peal of eight bells of All Saints Parish Church have been ringing out since 1748. The bells are renowned for their beautiful sound, and are a part of the heritage of the town. They are now in need of considerable refurbishment if they are to continue ringing for celebrations such as weddings and funerals and special events like the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire. Presented by Otley Film Society with all profits in aid of the Parish Church bells.
