2013 Highlights

Northern Ballet's The Great Gatsby will have its World Première on Saturday 2 March at Leeds Grand Theatre, running until Saturday 9 March.

Now in it's sixth year, the Northern Art Prize offers four short-listed artists a prominent exhibition at Leeds Art Gallery and the opportunity to win a £16,500 award.

Transform is West Yorkshire Playhouse's festival of theatre and performance which pushes at the edges of practice and helps re-imagine what theatre can look like and what it can do.

A celebration of the Leeds’ independent food and drink scene, and local culinary expertise in an urban setting. At venues across the city from 24 May - 9 June.

Leeds Festival is the biggest and best-loved music festival in the North. The 2013 line up includes Eminem, Deftones and alt-J.

From 8 - 22 November across multiple venues in the city, over 300 unseen and outstanding films will be presented through six leading programme sections of screenings and events.

The best players in the world, at the top of their game, giving their all, battling it out for the honour of lifting the Rugby League World Cup.

The UK’s first fan shaped “super theatre” style arena opens in September with Elton John, Cirque Du Soleil, Kaiser Chiefs, Micky Flanagan, JLS, Miranda Hart and Andrea Bocelli already confirmed.


Trinity Leeds

An exciting new retail and leisure haven in the city centre with international brands, boutiques, street food, rooftop restaurants and bars, plus an Everyman Cinema. Opening on 21 March.


Rugby League World Cup 2013

See some of the world's best players, battling it out for the honour of lifting the Rugby League World Cup. Matches take place in Headingley, Halifax and Huddersfield from 2 - 15 November.


Northern Ballet's The Great Gatsby

Northern Art Prize

The annual arts prize profiles artists working in the North East, North West and Yorkshire regions. The exhibition is at Leeds Art Gallery from 28 March - 16 June.

 

Sherlock Holmes - The Best Kept Secret

West Yorkshire Playhouse presents a richly seductive world of passion, breathless intrigue, jeopardy, deception and revelation. From 18 May - 8 June.
