Summer in the City 2018

The weather is warming and we’ve got summer on our minds. Now is the perfect time to book a summer in the city break to Leeds.

Spend sunny days strolling through the city, admiring Victorian architecture, street art and award-winning galleries and some of the UK’s best shopping.

Make the most of the lighter nights with dinner and drinks al fresco and take in spectacular views out over the city from a rooftop terrace.

FESTIVALS GALORE

It’s approaching festival season and Leeds is no exception.
From music, art and tech-talks to live-action video games and film screenings; there’s LOTS going on at Leeds International Festival.

Food fanatics are in for a treat with Leeds Indie Food Festival; a two week celebration of independent food and drink…YUM!

Tickets for the Leeds International Piano Competition Leeds’ rounds are now on sale. Can’t wait until September? This year, for the first time, the Leeds Piano Festival comes to Howard Assembly Rooms in May.

The Summer Cocktail Experience celebrates the magic of mixology in 22 of Leeds’ hippest hotspots with a full week of experiences.

The new Jazz Leeds festival brings five days of the best jazz to City Centre Venues including The Wardrobe, Leeds College of Music and Millennium Square.

And who forget the epic Leeds Festival! With headliners including Fall Out Boy, Kendrick Lamar and Kings of Leon.

NEW EXHIBITONS

With an ever changing range of exhibitions there’s always something new to see and do in Leeds’ attractions.
Explore Britain’s first national drink in an exciting new exhibition, Beer: A history of brewing and drinking, at Temple Newsam.

Himalayan Fashion is the focus of Lotherton Hall’s current exhibition. From sumptuous silk brocades to geometric Dhaka cotton weaves, you’ll be astounded by the variety and colours.

Leeds City Museum and Harewood House are celebrating 300 years since the birth of England’s most celebrated cabinet-maker and furniture designer, Thomas Chippendale, with their dedicated exhibitions.

While celebrating women is the theme for Abbey House Museum’s ‘A Woman’s Place’ Exhibition and Leeds Industrial Museum’s ‘Queen’s of Industry’.

Summer Series

Every summer, Millennium Square becomes a hub of energy and excitement with a calendar of live music, screenings, festivals and more! One of the not-to-be-missed events is the incredible Symphonic Sounds of Back to Basics, which will return to the square on Friday 27 July 2018, featuring a unique collaboration between the Orchestra of Opera North, legendary Back to Basics DJ Dave Beer and a line-up of special guests!
