Gail’s Ladies Afternoon in Leeds

6th August 2020

Gail enjoys her visit into Leeds city centre since lockdown eased

Saturday 1st August

Today was our first exciting social trip into Leeds since lockdown.  We caught the 10.45 train into Leeds. The journey was, under the circumstances, very pleasant with plenty of room to social distance.  Upon arrival we found the Leeds Railway station had been marked out, with a practical one way system in place to ensure the safety of all.

Our first point of call was at The Restaurant Bar & Grill situated on City Square for a very eagerly awaited bottle of Champagne.  We opted to sit outside and waited to be seated, we found everything was well organised and the staff were very helpful.

Having polished off the Champagne, we headed to the shops for some long awaited retail therapy. With the control measures in place we felt very safe, as all the shops in Leeds were adhering to suitable Covid measures and everyone seemed to be in good spirits.

To finish the day we booked a table at George’s Great British Kitchen, situated on the Headrow.  The four of us were seated in one of the beach hut style booths, we found the staff to be very professional, it was all very well organised and the meal was excellent.

We felt Leeds has adapted very well to the new normal and I won’t hesitate in returning again in the near future!
