Leeds’ Thriving Independent Food Scene

6th August 2020

Our city has a whole menu of delicious dining experiences on offer including a thriving independent food scene that is renowned for its diversity, energy and innovation. Passionate people, known for their craft, serving up plates to be proud of is what makes Leeds’ food and drink scene one of the very best in the country.

At the heart of the city’s indie food scene is Leeds Kirkgate Market. Here you’ll find an array of street food stalls selling delicious delights from all corners of the world including Vietnamese, Turkish, Indian, American and more. Kirkgate Market is also home to locals’ favourite The Owl, which is the market’s first ever pub. Serving traditional British dishes using only the very best locally sourced ingredients, The Owl is open for lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.

Home to an ever changing list of vendors and cuisines, Trinity Kitchen rotates six new street food vans every eight weeks and offers visitors the chance to experience various flavours and foods under one roof. The rotating street food vendors trade alongside permanent eateries: Chicago Rib Shack, Pho, Rola Wala, Tortilla, Pizzaluxe, Absurd Bird and Doner Shack.
