Enjoying Leeds Independent Food & Drink During Lockdown

With the second lockdown upon us, there are still plenty of ways that we can support our local independent restaurants and cafes during this difficult time. We’ve rounded up a list of places that are offering their services in a COVID-19 secure way. So fear not, you can still enjoy a wide range of food and drink in the comfort of your own home.

Afternoon Tea

Fancy a treat at home? Enjoy an Afternoon Tea Hamper or Cream Tea from Just Grand! Vintage Tea Room. The Afternoon Tea hampers include a variety of sandwiches, scones, mini cakes and a choice of teas. Just Grand! are also selling a range of gifts including vintage tea sets and personalised gift cards, perfect for a Christmas gift. Orders are available for collection or delivery.

La Chalet may have closed their doors during the lockdown but don’t worry, their online shop has you covered. La Chalet’s online shop offers a range of items including wines, cheese, jams and chutney, teas and coffee beans as well as afternoon tea packages.

Dining at home

For a fine-dining experience at home, The Owl are offering ‘Owl @ Home’ which offers the choice between their classic freshly prepared boxes as well as signature boxes. As we approach the festive season, The Owl has introduced three festive boxes for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve. Deliveries and collection are offered between Thursday and Saturday every week.

The Harewood Food & Drink Project are bringing you a Lockdown Bistro; giving you a taste of the good stuff to help get you through!

The Reliance are offering ‘The Reliance at Home’ which is a dine at home experience available for collection or delivery. You can choose from the ‘Saturday Night at Home’ which includes two or three courses or ‘Sunday Roast at Home’ with vegetarian and vegan options. The Reliance are also offering ‘Beer and Wine at Home’ with wide range of options to choose from.

During the last lockdown Eat Your Greens helped us through with their delicious food and they are back again with their ‘Heat Your Greens’ boxes. They have a great selection of heat-at-home boxes for brunch, lunch or dinner. You can also choose the weekly Dinner Date feast for two where you can pick their weekly meat or fish dish as well as a dessert.

Groceries & Coffee Shops

Situated in Oakwood, Grön Kafe is an independent Scandinavian café. Grön has reopened during the lockdown as a grocery store selling a range of fresh fruits and veggies as well as cupboard supplies and takeaway brunch and coffee. You can order online for local delivery on orders over £15 or collect from the café.

Health food shop Out of This World are open throughout the second lockdown for those wanting to visit the store. For those who would prefer to stay at home or do not live local, Out of This World have reintroduced their popular home delivery service. You can order from their selection of food, alcohol and supplements to body care and household items. Don’t forget their fresh deli items, there’s lots to choose from including their delicious doughnuts!

Located in Kirkgate Market, Teapot is remaining open for takeout drinks. Teapot also have a fantastic online shop with a huge selection of tea and coffee as well as a range of herbs and honey. They are also offering free delivery to local residents.

Coffee craving? Laynes Espresso is open every day for your daily coffee fix. Laynes is offering takeout drinks as well as freshly baked treats. You can order for collections online or can place an order for delivery via Deliveroo.
