This winter, you can experience world-class theatre, spectacular and dazzling performances in our unmissable programme of festive events. We’ve put together a list of some of the shows the whole family will enjoy; with everything from musical theatre and traditional pantomime, fairy tale princesses and magical adventures.

 

Aladdin 

Carriageworks Theatre: 26th Nov- 9th Jan.

Follow Aladdin on the journey of a lifetime as he soars through the skies in his quest for fortune and true love. Don’t miss this GENIE-us production full of singalong tunes, spectacular dance routines, dazzling costumes and laugh-out-loud jokes guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles, whether you’re three… or ninety-three!

 

Northern Ballet: The Nutcracker & I

The Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre:  22nd – 23rd Dec

Get the family into the Christmas spirit with ground-breaking multi-media performance The Nutcracker and I. With one pianist, one ballerina and an exquisite spectacle of digital projections, Clara’s festive story is brought to life in a way never seen before. Watch musician, dancer and hand-drawn animations combine into a performance so magical you’ll feel part of the story too.

 

Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks:

Leeds Grand Theatre: 8th Dec – 9th Jan

When the three orphaned Rawlins children are reluctantly evacuated from wartime London to live with the mysterious Eglantine Price, they have no idea what adventures lie ahead. Upon discovering Eglantine to be a trainee witch, they join forces to search for a secret spell that will defeat the enemy once and for all. Armed with an enchanted bedknob, a bewitched broomstick and a magical flying bed, they encounter surprising new friendships on their journey from Portobello Road to the depths of the beautiful briny sea.

 

Cinderella

Carriageworks Theatre: 21st Jan-29th Jan 2022
This hilarious family amateur pantomime follows the struggles of Cinderella against her two stepsisters as they strive to win Prince Charming’s hand in marriage. Enslaved in rags, Cinderella stands no chance of attending the royal ball but, with the help of Buttons and her Fairy Godmother, will Cinderella’s dreams come true? Meanwhile, Prince Charming and his valet, set out on a mission to find the mysterious Princess Stardust, the only woman he wishes to make his bride!

Combining fairy-tale enchantment with side-splitting comedy, the award-winning LIDOS present this fun, family pantomime that is a must see by all!

 

Wendy & Peter Pan

The Quarry Theatre, Leeds Playhouse: 22nd Nov -22nd Jan

With Peter Pan, fairy Tink and Tiger Lily as unlikely allies, Wendy gives the Lost Boys a run for their money, takes on the dastardly Captain Hook and ultimately learns what a great adventure life can be.  Packed with theatrical magic, beautiful designs, flying and plenty of laughs, it promises to be an unforgettable journey for all the family. So it’s second star on the right and straight on to Leeds Playhouse this Christmas.
