A Night at the Opera - Millennium Square Summer Series

There’s one-of-a kind Entertainment

Leeds is one of only a few English cities outside London to have world-class Opera North and Northern Ballet a repertory theatre AND some of the country’s finest theatres, an award-winning arena and one of the most vibrant live music scenes in the UK. From global superstars playing to sell out venues to hidden gems hosting local artists, there’s a show you’ll love on every night!

Plus, during the summer months, the outdoor spaces spring into life. There are two months of open-air concerts and events in the heart of the city at Millennium Square’s Summer Series, follow Alice down the rabbit hole with outdoor theatre performances in the stunning grounds of Harewood House, then it’s on to the magic of movies with outdoor screenings at the historic Kirkstall Abbey.

If you’re looking for a break where you can keep the kids entertained then Leeds has a great variety of things on offer. For the animal lovers in the family you’ll be spoilt for choice. Home Farm at Temple Newsam is one of the largest rare breed centre in Europe or visit Lotherton Hall with its country house, Wildlife World, woodland walks and adventure playground; both great value days out! If it’s raining, head to Tropical World where you will be peeling the layers off as you explore tropical habitats, you’ll see crocodiles, lemurs, butterflies, bats, snakes and a gorgeous family of meerkats. For one of the best adventure playgrounds in Yorkshire head to Harewood House, with a zipwire, aerial walkways and climbing nets, it’s a haven for children to run wild. It’s also worth visiting the bird garden, farm and penguin enclosure. Another fun but perfect choice for the whole family, and one you can travel to by water taxi, is the Royal Armouries. Here you will be in awe of life-size installations of armoured men, horses and an elephant. There are even live shows of jousting, archery and falconry!
