Eat Your Way Around Leeds - Top Street Food for Every Mood

There's a new foodie sensation taking Leeds by storm and it goes by the name of street food. That’s right, Leeds is rapidly becoming the culinary hub of the North, offering a delectable feast of goodness for your taste buds to dig into. Street food, in particular, is proving a popular choice in the city, fighting off the chain restaurants and coffee shops. Whether you fancy a sit-down street food experience or a warming takeaway you can enjoy whilst walking around some of the best outdoor food markets, Leeds has you covered. Here are a few of our favourites…

Bundobust - Tom Joy

For veggies and beer fans, Bundobust offers an alternative to what most of us Brits would call Indian cuisine. Whilst there is no meat and Tikka Masala in sight what so ever, the vegetarian snacks at this street food bar complement the craft beer to no end, giving a fun twist to an Indian meal. The food is brought to you in tubs with plastic cutlery, with seating in the style of benches to create an authentic, lively street feel. One of the best independent Indian food venues in the city, Bundobust takes pride and place along with other Indian street food restaurants in the area, such as The Cat’s Pyjamas and Rola Wala, located in the Trinity Kitchen – more to come on that.

Trinity Kitchen

If you are fitting in some last-minute Christmas shopping or hoping to bag an early bargain, then Trinity Kitchen is the place to grab your lunch and keep your energy levels up. What’s even better is that Trinity Kitchen gives you the opportunity to take a trip around the world through street food. A unique experience, Trinity Kitchen has a mixture of seven permanent eateries such as Pizza de Luxe, Duck ‘n’ Roll and Pho. If that wasn’t enough, every eight weeks, six new street vendors arrive, serving up the international street food. This gives you the excuse to go out and eat more as there is always something new to try at Trinity Kitchen.

True Yorkshire Grub

Here in Yorkshire, it's no secret that we are proud of our food. Of course, you can’t get more Yorkshire than everyone’s favourite accompaniment to a roast dinner. Why, yes, of course, it’s the humble Yorkshire Pudding. Recently, the trend has taken off to incorporate Yorkshire Pudding into our lives as much as possible, and we’re loving it. Yorkshire Pudding wraps have proven to be a firm favourite in the street food world and stalls are popping up all over the place. Some Leeds hot spots for these delicious wraps include The Yorkshire Wrap Company in Leeds Kirkgate Market and The Market Wraps Allotment, a mobile Yorkshire Pudding wrap vendor, known for it’s little green van and presence at the likes of Kirkstall Abbey Deli Market.

Kirkgate Market

The latest addition to Leeds street food scene is Kirkgate Market’s new food hall. Try Asian bakery Zm Zm, a taste of Istanbul at Mr Mackerel, Bánh & Mee Vietnamese Street Kitchen, you’re sure to find something new and delicious!

After reading this article, your mouth is bound to watering and eager to get a taste of the finest street food that Leeds has to offer. We are barely touching the surface of Leeds’ street food scene so it’s time to get out and explore this new food craze.
