Get ready to be scared this Halloween as Leeds gets into the Halloween spirit!

This is my roundup of the best seriously spooky family friendly Halloween activities this year.


Lotherton Hall Spooky Scarecrow Trail

Lotherton Hall Scarecrow Trail


Follow the scary scarecrow trail across the Lotherton Hall estate from Saturday 22nd – Monday 31st October

Then go into the House to take part in Halloween craft activities including creepy mask making.

There is also a fab playground, Deer Park and Bird Garden at Lotherton Hall.

Scarecrow Trail free with general house admission

Cost – Adult £5.50, Children £2.70


Kirkstall Abbey - Credit Leeds City Council

See a Halloween Film at Sneaky Experience


Sneaky Experience provides exciting pop up cinema screening, and they are showing the family classic, Hocus Pocus, at Kirkstall Abbey this Halloween

Dressing up as Ghosts, Ghoulies and Witches is welcome!

Date – Friday 28th October 2pm

Farmer Copleys Pumpkins

Farmer Copley’s Pumpkin Trail - Pontefract


Halloween isn’t Halloween until you’ve been to the Pumpkin Festival at Farmer Copley’s, and chosen your pumpkin!

They have thousands of pumpkins available, including white pumpkins, blue pumpkins and even square pumpkins! There are also tractor rides, fancy dress and face painting.

Stockeld Park Halloween Adventure

Halloween Adventure at Stockeld Park


Stockeld Park really comes alive at Halloween, and this year is no different! There are loads of Halloween activities to try out including Nordic skiing, exploring the magical forest, ice skating or taking part in a Fright Night (suitable for over 8s only).

Fun Halloween activities include pumpkin carving and a witch and wizard trail. Date – 19th – 31st October

Calverley Scareycrows Festival

The Scareycrows Festival in Calverley


This is a scarecrow festival with a difference! The village of Calverley in Leeds has its own Halloween themed scarecrow festival with scarycrows dotted around the village.

There are also traditional scarecrows (if you don’t like the scarycrows!) and pumpkin carving, gingerbread decorating and apple bobbing.

Cost – You can buy the scarecrow trail map from the Post Office and Calverley News for 50p and any profit made will be donated to Wheatfields Hospice.
