Summer Half-Term Fun in Leeds


Find out what's happening in Leeds this summer half-term. There's plenty of activities and things to do to keep everyone entertained!

Enjoy some revolting fun this Half Term by entering the Body Lab at Thackray Medical Museum. From 29th May to 2nd June, the museum invites you to investigate your bodily functions in a series of hands-on science workshops. Strong stomachs necessary! 

Charge down to the Royal Armouries Museum this half term and burn off some energy with their action-packed events programme. There’ll be plenty of hands-on and have-a-go activities as well as the chance to try our challenging military-style junior assault course. Plus martial arts and sword skills demonstrations and dramatic tales of tournaments.

There’s a week-long dinosaur extravaganza at Leeds City Museum, where you’ll be able to see a three dimensionally preserved ichthyosaur skull alongside with other amazing artefacts, fossils and bones.

Back for a 4th year at Leeds Industrial Museum on Saturday 3rd June, Leeds Wool Festival is a celebration of all things woolly! This year, the festival will feature more market stalls where you can buy all your crafting supplies and much more.

It’s Fairytale Week at Lotherton Hall; follow the traditional tales trail and get lost in your imagination in Lotherton’s own fairy tale. With storytelling, storybook crafts, dressing up and a fairytale picnic on Thurs 1st June.


Kirkstall Abbey - Leeds Museums and Galleries


The Kirkstall Deli Market returns for the final weekend in May. Enjoy the outdoor market in the picturesque 12th century ruins of Kirkstall Abbey. With over 40 unique stalls each day you can spend an afternoon browsing hand-made crafts and local produce from across Yorkshire in a glorious setting. 

It’s all about Comics at Abbey House Museum with the chance to try photography and comic pop art make up workshops to compliment the Comics Unmasked exhibition.

There’s silver service fit for a king at Temple Newsam. Follow the silver trail throughout the house. Discover a recreated Victorian silver service banquet and try have-a-go silver crafts.

Or head to Thwaite Mills for Animal Island; A week of fun exploring animal and insect life on the island, with activities suitable for all the family, including your dogs. There will be nature packs, art kits, and the chance to make a butterfly or dragonfly.

If the sun is shining you’re sure to want to head outdoors, perhaps to one of Leeds brilliant park. Visit on a Sunday and you’ll be treated to a musical performance as part of Summer Bands in Leeds Parks.

Four new street food vendors join the already awesome line-up at Trinity Kitchen this summer. You can try a taste of the Caribbean, the USA and the Orient as the new arrivals serve up tasty treats. Or head to Kirkgate Market for delights from around the world, and more locally; Yorkshire pudding wrap anybody?
