From creative outputs to digital content and the development of future technologies, Leeds is fast fulfilling its ambition to become the UK’s northern digital and information hub.

Home to 3,500 digital and technology companies, with a digital GVA of £688 million and a growth potential of 92%, Leeds is one of the most innovative digital hubs not only in the UK, but across the globe.

The city is continually at the forefront of a variety of technological developments; the first UK ISP Freeserve was launched in Leeds and Leeds City Region was the only UK location outside London selected to pilot the 4G mobile broadband launch in 2013. Strength in this sector is demonstrated with the fact it is also host to the North’s largest digital festival, Leeds Digital Festival, providing exciting leading conversations in the latest innovations in all things digital.

Looking to the future, this digital excellence is only set to thrive for Leeds. There are further plans for significant public and private sector investment across the city, including over £100m public sector investment in digital infrastructure over the next three years.

With the convergence of major fibre networks in Leeds providing low cost, high capacity data routes with some of the fastest and most resilient access in the country, Leeds is incredibly well connected. Additionally, work has started on DC4, aql’s newest £43m data centre, which will be the largest independent data centre outside London and will serve the entire region, bringing improved internet connectivity to Leeds.

The digital excellence across the city ensures all digital and connectivity conference needs are catered for, but it is also a knowledge and skills hub for digital innovation, making it an ideal location for any technological event to generate discussion and inspire. Leeds really does encompass all things digital in all directions.
