Welcome to the magnificent city of Leeds, the second most popular conferencing destination in the north of England and where no two conferences are the same! This means every event is bespoke, individual and memorable.

In 2016 Leeds welcomed nearly 3million delegates and hosted 48,000 meetings and events. The city boasts an exciting venue portfolio, from world-class academic Universities, historic civic venues such as Leeds Town Hall and unique experiences such as at Headingley Rugby and Cricket Stadium.

Leeds is anything but ordinary, and as the third largest city in the UK, this major international city is situated in the middle of the UK and has excellent transport links to other cities and surrounding airports, making Leeds an ideal location for international conferences.

A Global City

Leeds has the largest city region economy outside of London, larger than nine EU countries, with a total economic output of £64.6 billion. Leeds is also a global leader in digital, manufacturing, healthcare and professional services, and houses four leading academic institutes.

It is no wonder that Leeds has become a major location of choice for organisers, competing with popular cities across the globe to host key events. This includes the bid for The Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society’s (ASAS) annual conference in 2017, where Leeds triumphed in selection over Houston, Rome and Berlin.

Delegate Experiences

When you arrive in the historic heart of Yorkshire, it’s easy to see why so many delegates chose to return. This is a city that hasn’t stood still. Leeds is a modern city with a rich industrial past. Compact and accessible you can walk everywhere and experience culture at its best. This is one of the only cities outside London to have its own Opera and Ballet companies.

Delegates can unwind and continue networking in a vibrant city centre. Leeds has a thriving independent food and drink scene, flagship galleries and museums and a thriving shopping experience where delegates can take in the stunning Victorian arcades for which Leeds is renowned.

Catering is an important consideration for any conference, which is why many of our venues add a local twist to its menus. Locally sourced produce and Yorkshire inspired dishes can help to give delegates a real taste of Leeds’ culture.
