Construction of new Hampton by Hilton gets underway in Leeds

The first phase of a new regeneration scheme at Bridge Street in Leeds began today. Eric Teng, the CEO of Heeton Holdings Ltd – the Singapore-based property developer leading the consortium behind this landmark project, led the commencement of work celebrations.

The scheme will create a sustainable urban destination on the 2.45-acre site that was once occupied by British Gas prior to its relocation to Holbeck. The scheme is set in an ideal location in the city centre, close to the Victoria Gate shopping centre and the emerging creative quarter.

The annual conference will be taking place from the 16th – 17th November at the Royal Armouries International, bringing 200 delegates to the city.

VisitLeeds have announced that data from the recent STEAM survey, which measures the economic impact of the tourism industry in the UK, recorded that Leeds welcomed 27.29 million tourism visits in 2016, a 4.2% increase from 2015. These figures support the overall upward trend for visitor numbers which has shown a notable 9.7% increase between 2013 and 2016.

A delegation of senior events industry representatives visited Leeds today to learn about the city’s growing success in attracting business visits and events to the region.

Members of the events industry’s Business Visits & Events Partnership were given an overview of the city’s impressive meetings and events venues by Jennifer Young, Head of Visit and Conference Leeds. The delegation also enjoyed a tour of unique business and cultural venues including Cloth Hall Court, the First Direct Arena and the Northern Ballet in the city’s central cultural quarter.
