Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Series Leeds – one month to go!

It’s just one month until Leeds plays host to the World Triathlon Series! The International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series is the peak of international triathlon competition and sees elite Olympic-level athletes competing around the globe to become world champion.

With beginner distances available, you don’t need to be an Olympic athlete to race on the same course as Leeds heroes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee in their last event on home soil before they compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games this summer.

Taking place on the 11th and 12th June 2016, the event presents individuals of all levels of ability to swim, bike and run on the same course, in front of the same crowds on the same day as the world’s best triathletes.

If participating isn’t for you, then make sure you don’t miss out on joining thousands of spectators who will witness the world’s fastest triathletes race around the city centre of Leeds in a thrilling showcase of endurance and strategy. Cheer on participants at the start in Roundhay Park, or head to one of the free viewing areas in the city centre on Briggate or Victoria Gardens.

Leeds Indie Food Fest is back for another year of jam-packed deliciousness! Starting today and rolling right through to the 30th May, this year’s festival has even more on the menu. There’s an afternoon tea party, secret supper club, painting with food, candle lit banquet, films, cocktails and plenty of other tasty treats.

You can eat your way through Leeds, literally, as The Gallery at Munro House and Tattooed Bakers team up to create a city of cake. See the unique installation at Trinity Leeds from 13th May onwards.

Be taken on a Magical Mystery Tour by Leeds’ own North Bar. You’ll be calling in at all six North venues and are guaranteed plenty of beer and lots of laughs! Get your ticket for the tour, Friday 20th May.

The headline event of Leeds Indie Food Fest is the Leeds Feast. Leeds Feast returns once again to close out the festival in style, with two days of world-class street food and culinary fun spread across three popular venues, with craft beer, art and family fun thrown in. You’ll find this year’s event at Belgrave Music Hall, Headrow House and newcomer North Brewing Co., all within easy walking distance. Headrow House’s roof terrace will also play host to the return of Hackney comfort food champions Rita’s, who will also be popping up on Sunday for a brunch takeover at Ox Club. 28th & 29th May.

Yorkshire Festival 2016 - 16th June-3rd July

The Yorkshire Festival 2016 is an 18 day celebration of world-class music, dance, theatre and so much more!

There will be events taking place across the county with a number of them happening in Leeds.

Wander through Leeds city centre and you’ll spot a number of statues but imagine if they could talk…what might they say? Talking Statues breathes new life into the statues; simple swipe your phone on a nearby sign and wait for the call.

On July 1st Big Disco will see the world’s largest disco ball, two and a half times the size of a double decker bus, suspended over Leeds while more than 25,000 people dance to the same track, at the same time, at parties across Yorkshire.
