WE KNOW HOW TO DO CULTURE!

Join our 26 million visitors experiencing our dazzling festivals, spectacular dance and stunning heritage.

Step into the world of cabaret as Opera North and West Yorkshire Playhouse celebrate one of the greatest, most influential musical theatre composers of the 20th Century in Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill (15 – 21 June) in the perfect setting for a night of cabaret: Leeds’ beautiful Victorian music hall, Leeds City Varieties.

Leeds is THE festival city with more than 80 festivals happening every year! From the weird to the wonderful and all that’s in between. One of the not-to-be-missed weekends is August Bank Holiday; there’s Leeds Festival, Black Music Festival and Leeds West Indian Carnival rolled into what promises to be an unforgettable visit!

JOIN THE CROWD!

There’s a reason why Lonely Planet named Leeds as #5 on its top 10 must visit European destinations for Summer 2017 – there’s so much to do!

Animal lover? There’s plenty for you! From the creepy, crawly and fluffy creatures at Tropical World to the rare breeds at Temple Newsam Home Farm. You’ll be flocking to Lotherton Hall’s bird garden and snuggling up to alpacas at Harewood House. Plus, all these places are set in gorgeous gardens perfect for burning off steam or soaking up the sun.

History buff? Look no further! Explore the power-drunk emperors, gruesome gladiator fights and rich, gout-inducing food of Ancient Rome at Leeds City Museum. Roll your sleeves up for a taste of life as an 18th century worker in the industries which shaped the city at Leeds Industrial Museum. Prepare for battle as a knight at the Royal Armouries Museum and be whisked back to Victoria times at Abbey House Museum.

Shopaholic? Clear some space in your wardrobe! Leeds is one of the best cities for shopping in the country…and it’s not just for those big names and luxury brands. Instagrammable arcades are bursting with independents you can spend hours discovering and weekly markets boast unique finds.

All for the great outdoors? Strap on those walking boots! You can be in the iconic Yorkshire Dales in 30 minutes where you can hike or cycle through the beautiful Chevin Forest. Or try the steam train to Haworth to follow in the footsteps of the Brontës across the inspirational landscape. In fact, exploring the lush Yorkshire countryside makes a perfect day trip from Leeds.

WE KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GOOD BREW!
