Jonny’s 4 Must-Do Outdoor Activities in Leeds
25th September 2018
Working in the travel sector I have a real passion for finding great places to visit. When I was in Leeds for the week there were several outdoor places I visited and I’ve listed the ones that I can’t recommend enough. Here were the four of the best outdoor attractions to visit when in the area.
Hazelwood Castle Activity Centre
We arrived as a group of couples and I can honestly say Live For Today at Hazlewood Castle is one of the best activity day outs you can have. Family friendly, great for the kids and it also caters to wedding groups such as stags and hens as well as away days for corporate visitors. It has it all in terms of excitement and thrill. The activity which we chose was Quad Biking (It is the most popular) but there’s so much more too like Archery, Paintballing and Axe throwing to name but a few.
Pedego Electric Bikes Tours and Rentals
I wanted to find out more about the city. We were able to sample Leeds in a unique way by hiring the Pedego Electric Bikes from Buslinghthorpe Green Trading Estate. They were really great from start to finish by providing us with all the safety equipment (helmets and hi-viz jackets) as well as providing us with city maps so we could cruise around till our hearts content. A worthwhile activity if you like the outdoors!
Yorkshire Hire Cruises
It was one of the groups birthday’s during the week when we were in Leeds and we wanted to do something memorable. We found out about the unique Yorkshire Hire Cruisers experience. We enjoyed a fantastic meal, several drinks and more during the 3 hour cruise. We started off at Granary Wharf and travelled on the River Aire and past the Royal Armouries. We found out a lot about the history of the area during this time. It was really awesome!
Meanwood Valley Trail
During our last day in Leeds we wanted to get some proper exercise and fresh air and we talked who a local who suggested the Meanwood Valley Trail. We walked for around 6km and it was great enjoying the fresh outdoors. Stunning views and relaxing vibes were experienced here, it was the best way to round off a busy yet fantastic week in Leeds.
If you’re looking for outdoor activities in Leeds then these are some of the ones I recommend. There’s tons more out there (check out this feature by Visit Leeds) but these are the ones I experienced during my week there. I love the city because it’s so diverse with different attractions and activities. I will be back, that’s for sure.
