Ten creative agencies from across Leeds have united under the name ‘Make Believe’, each donating and exhibiting a piece of artwork based on classical children’s literature. Marketing agency, Magpie, has brought together the creative community to help the Cash for Kids charity, which helped more than 60,000 children last year.

Ged Savva, Magpie’s cofounding director said: “It means a lot to me that we can use our creativity for good. We’ve had a great turnout from Leeds’ creative agencies – it’s not often we get to come together in this way. Through this initiative, we want to remind people about the importance of innocence and childhood and not to take this for granted.”

Each agency had three weeks to turn a randomly assigned quote, from stories such as The Jungle Book, into a modern day work of art, suitable for poster print and limited edition merchandise.

On 30 November, the ten agencies came together for the official unveiling of their bespoke pieces of artwork. The Make Believe exhibition was held at Victoria Gate shopping centre, marking the official launch of the online store ( where anyone can purchase their favourite print as limited edition merchandise in the run up to Christmas.

The event saw Victoria Gate’s lower shopping floor transformed into an enchanting evening of ‘Make Believe’ complete with Frobscottle cocktails and Snozzcumber canapés.

The funds raised will be donated to Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas appeal, which helps to ensure disadvantaged children receive a gift on Christmas Day. Cash for Kids’ charity manager, Lisa Sullivan, was moved to tears as she entered the exhibition and saw the crowd of guests admiring the designs and praising the work Cash for Kids does for children across Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Make Believe artwork will be on sale from 01 – 15 December thanks to the initiative’s print partner Awesome Merchandise and available as a print, greetings card, coaster set or mug at
