Big Disco : Little Disco : Cardboard Box

Big Disco will see the world's largest disco ball, 10.33m in diameter, on loan from Bestival, suspended from a crane in Leeds while more than 20,000 people dance to the same track, at the same time, at parties across Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Festival is delighted to commission Duke Studios as lead producers for this unique and inspiring event that will see the whole of Yorkshire #bepartofit with the disco to end all discos, hundreds of little discos, and DIY disco kits, that everyone can apply to acquire, delivered in a cardboard box.

In collaboration with Yorkshire Festival and NEWSUBSTANCE, they will lead the way in to this fantastic project, delivering cardboard boxes, street parties, acting as a hub for all communications, helping get the top ten tracks ready to go for the public vote and generally getting everyone on board with what is set to be an incredible event.

Yorkshire Festival Artistic director Matt Burman says: “Anyone who wants to take part in Big Disco can host their own Little Discos on the same day. Specially created packs will be distributed with the selected track and hints and tips on organising a brilliant party. Matt continues: "From contemporary dance, night clubs, clog dancers, from nurseries to nursing homes - we don't want to leave anyone out. We're excited to see how different people interpret the idea!"

We look forward to seeing what Duke Studios come up with, and to seeing how everyone responds, so watch this space for news of how to sign up, and for the website launch for forthcoming Big Disco : 1 July 2016 : a Friday night like no other!
