Host of famous faces pit their wits in Jane Tomlinson Appeal’s Sporting Social
14th July 2018
Sports stars past and present will go head to head in an evening of sporting fun and frolics for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
The Sporting Social – back for a second year – will be hosted by TV star Clare Balding and will see sports personalities reminisce about their greatest moments, on and off the field.
The big names of rugby, football, athletics and cricket will also take on the audience in a fast-paced sports speed quiz to see if their brains match their brawn!
Among the stars scheduled to appear are Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain rugby legends Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock and former Leeds United, Sheffield United and England footballer – and scorer of the Premier League’s first ever goal – Brian Deane.
They’ll be joined by 5 times gold medal Paralympian and 10 times world champion Hannah Cockroft, former Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills and Clare Taylor, the first woman to have played in a football and cricket World Cup.
More stars are set to be announced shortly.
Clare, a patron of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting the Sporting Social for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
“Jane was an amazing, inspirational woman who achieved extraordinary things in the face of such adversity. I know she is still a hero to many – as she is to me.
“The Sporting Social is set to be a fantastic night with lots of great guests and entertainment. Better still, all the money raised will be going to help children be happier and healthier and improve the lives of people affected by cancer, so please join us and support this brilliant cause.”
The Sporting Social takes place at the Royal Armouries Hall on Friday 28th September. Tickets are on sale now, and are already selling fast. Tickets are priced, £55 a head, or £500 for a table of 10, and include all entertainment, welcome reception drinks and a two-course dinner.
All funds raised will go to support the Appeal’s work with children and people affected by cancer.
