Vice and Virtue Leeds

A new restaurant offering a unique culinary experience promises to add further gravitas to an already flourishing district of Leeds city centre. Scheduled for a grand opening this September, Vice & Virtue is set to become the fine-dining jewel in the Northern Quarter crown.

Located just opposite The Belgrave, the venue formerly known as Henley’s has undergone an astonishing art-deco transformation, which has already built up steady trade concocting high-end cocktails since winter 2015.

With the refurbished second floor restaurant just weeks from completion, the city’s many foodies will soon be able to sample the best of British fine-dining cuisine whilst enjoying views of the buzzing Northern Quarter.

Bespoke dining

The Vice & Virtue menu is set to consist of the finest, locally sourced ingredients and will change on a daily basis to reflect the best each of the four seasons has to offer.

Diners will be able to choose from a 5, 8 or 10 dish tasting menu, which will be paired with wines, cocktails and ales handpicked to complement whatever happens to be on their plate.

Those looking for a truly bespoke experience can take a seat at the bar with up to five friends, where they can engage with the chef to create their own unique menu.

Bespoke dining at Vice and Virtue

Whilst the Vice & Virtue proposition is certain to attract a cosmopolitan crowd, their no-nonsense approach to cuisine and relaxed ambience will mean that anyone who takes an adventurous approach to food will feel welcome.

Cocktail - Vice and Virtue

Vice & Virtue twist

Whilst the restaurant itself is weeks away from launch, those looking for a hint of what to expect can visit the first floor bar, where the ever-evolving cocktail menu reflects the brands forward-thinking approach.

Here, home grown bestsellers such as the Rhubarb Triangle, featuring Absolut Vodka infused with rhubarb, lavender foam and chocolate, sit alongside cocktail classics given a Vice & Virtue twist.

The man behind this exciting new project is none other than Luke Downing, whose Midas touch as both Managing Director and Executive Chef of Dough Bistro has been one of Leeds’ great success stories in recent years.

A regular face at the Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards, his impressive list of wins over the years includes Best Chef, Best Suburban Restaurant and Best British Fine Dining, as well as numerous five star reviews from some of the harshest of critics.

Speaking about the next chapter in an already remarkable career, Luke said "I'm so excited about returning to the kitchen and developing my ideas to a city centre audience. I absolutely love what I do, and think my passionate approach to food and drink, will offer foodies something very different, and affordable too. Every ingredient will be as important as the next, and drink pairings will include home-made infusions and cocktails from our forthcoming cocktail menu. I'm cooking the sort of food I love. Simple, experimental, flavourful and provoking."
