Bramham Park

Bramham Park

Bramham Park has been the home of the Lane Fox family for 300 years. The house was built in 1698 by Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley, in the style of the great Tuscan villas he had seen on a grand tour of Europe.

Its 66 acres of pleasing grounds in the style of 'le Notre' - designer of the gardens at Versailles - are all green vistas, temples and the gleam of distant water. The Lane Fox family, direct descendants of Robert Benson, still live at Bramham Park.

Bramham Park is famous for two events in particular, the Bramham Horse Trials and the Leeds Festival. Bramham Horse Trials is one of the UK's premier three day events and attracts some 45,000 spectators to the estate each June. The Leeds Festival is the premier rock, metal and hip-hop music festival in the north of England, sister event to the Reading Festival, and takes place on the August Bank Holiday each year.

“Bramham Park is a grand and unusual house, but its gardens are grander and even more unusual” The Buildings of England, Prof. Nikolaus Pevsner
