This February Half Term @ Pit, celebrate 100 years of Miners' Welfare, getting hands-on with our mining-themed activities!

Caphouse Creators Special – Make Your Own Soap
Monday-Friday (11am)
Suds up! Working underground was dirty work, which meant a trip to the Pithead Baths and a good wash at the end of the day was a miner must! This February half term, join us for our Caphouse Creator Special, where we’ll be celebrating 100 years of Miners’ Welfare by designing and making our very own soap to take home. Each session will cost £5 per person and have limited availability. To book, click here or ring us on 01924 848806.

Maker Shed - Miniature Miners’ Magnificent Playground
15th-23rd February (12.30 – 4pm)
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” - thankfully this wasn’t the case for miners, who had lots to do in their spare time all thanks to the Miners’ Welfare. To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Miners’ Welfare, we’re challenging visitors to get experimental with different materials, designing and even helping make a model playground fit for our miniature mining families. Suitable for 5 years and upwards.

Game On!
Tuesday (12.30 – 4pm)
Do games build the comradery or the competitiveness in your family? On Tuesday February 18 try out our brand-new mining themed game developed by our young volunteers in Parkinson’s Yard where Peggy (a 1940’s miner’s wife) will be on hand to make you feel at home with friendly banter.

Traditional Games
