The Rejuvenation Emporium: Staying Young in the Ea

The Rejuvenation Emporium: Staying Young in the Ea

Details

What does it mean to grow old? When and how does our youth “go”? Is there anything that we can do to get it back?

This new exhibition, co-curated with historians from the University of Leeds, explores our enduring fascination with slowing or reversing the ageing process.

Stories, objects and interactive exhibits trace the history of "rejuvenating" medical treatments and pharmaceutical products, and reveal the doctors, quacks, fiction writers and film stars who flourished during the 1920s "rejuvenation craze".

The exhibition also includes a special archival film screening of the 1923 film _Black Oxen_, featuring Hollywood stars Corinne Griffith and Clara Bow.

Learn more about ageing in medicine and culture in the 20th century, and see how these histories have informed the growth of the modern day anti-ageing industry.
