'Up Housewives and At Em!' Recycling & the Second

'Up Housewives and At Em!' Recycling & the Second

With Dr Henry Irving, Leeds Beckett University.

Recycing was a significant part of life on the 'home front' and women were encouraged to donate saucepans for the production of Spitfires and turn waste paper into bullet cartridges. Thousands of women volunteered to help with the collection and sorting and this talk will explore some of their stories.

£5 pay on the day, book in advance. Includes entry to the museum and our 'A Woman's Place?' exhibition, and refreshments. Please ring 0113 3784079 or email to book your place.
