Talk: Asbestos in Leeds, Asbestos in Everything!

Talk: Asbestos in Leeds, Asbestos in Everything!

Details

With Dr Jessica Van Horssen (Leeds Beckett University).

Asbestos was once understood to be integral to modern life, and it was added to a seemingly infinite number of manufactured goods and urban infrastructure to keep local citizens safe. This talk will explore various ways asbestos historically made its way into the lives of people living in Leeds, and the legacies the city is still trying to manage today.

This is a talk to tie in with Abbey House Museum's 2019 Danger Zone exhibition [https://www.leeds.gov.uk/dangerzone].
