An attractive ‘country pub’ just up the hill out of the town on the road to Blubberhouses. It was know locally (and further afield) as ‘the Spite’ for many years. A hostelry since George Spence became its first landlord in 1852, the building dates back to around 1783. No is had a spacious dining area with an extension menu and cosy corner seats by open fires.
