Policing The Digital Playground: Parental Concerns

Policing The Digital Playground: Parental Concerns

Most parents welcome the vast benefits that the internet brings to their children. However, the perils of the ‘dark web’ are also front-of-mind and parents increasingly recognise the importance of building digital resilience in their children in today’s online world.

Our project with Internet Matters sought to unearth concerns and the worries of parents regarding their children’s online safety, thereby helping to develop effective solutions for parenting the digital playground. The wide age range of children to cover (4-16 years) and the need to ensure the study was both robust and evidence based whilst tackling sensitive issues ethically were core challenges which we will discuss further during this talk.
