Study Event: The Schumanns, Brahms and the Orient

Study Event: The Schumanns, Brahms and the Orient

Well known for her informative, amusing, probing and highly entertaining talks, we are thrilled to welcome to Leeds one of the country’s pre-eminent Lieder specialists.

Dr Natasha Loges is Head of Postgraduate Programmes at the Royal College of Music and has co-edited _Brahms in the Home and the Concert Hall: Between Private and Public Performance._

As a song accompanist, she has performed in various venues overseas and in the UK. Her most recent book, _Brahms and His Poets, _has met with universal acclaim: “An extremely useful and endlessly fascinating book, which should be an invaluable volume for performers and listeners alike” wrote _Gramophone._

In this study event Dr Loges will explore settings by the poets Daumer, Rückert and Goethe, and the influence of ideas about the Orient on the Schumanns and Brahms.
