Live musical theatre with folk music and dance.

After hugely successful and house-packed show in London, this highly popular Bengali opera (Jatra pala/ ancient rural theatre of Bengal) of visceral folk music and dazzling dance in a stunning theatrical setting is touring to Leeds and cities around UK. .

Narrated in English, the story unfolds a powerful allegory of modern capitalism through live folk music, dazzling dance and a unique way of story-telling.

Based on a feudal society of ancient Bengal, the story involves a snake charmer and his daughter, a prince, and a poisonous snake – will love prevail over class conflict?

This form of musical theatre evolved in the ancient Bengal, and plays an important part in rituals, music, folk life and heritage in Bengali culture.

This theatre experience will take audiences to the boorish yard under a Banyan tree in the rural village of Bengal, where these special story-based musicals are traditionally performed.

Produced by RadhaRaman Society, this musical is scripted, adapted and directed by Ahmed Kaysher.

''A truly formidable live musical theatre evolved from ancient Bengal with soulful folk music and spectacular dance. The production that gained a standing ovation at Rich Mix theatre in London''. - East London Advertiser.
