Tony Kofi’s “Portrait of Cannonball” feat. Deelee

Tony Kofi’s “Portrait of Cannonball” feat. Deelee

Details

Tony Kofi sax, Byron Wallen trumpet, Alex Webb piano, Andy Cleyndert bass, Alfonso Vitale drums, songs from Deelee Dubé.

Alto-sax master Tony Kofi fronts this loving celebration of the jazz giant (in every sense) Julian ‘Cannnonball’ Adderley tracing the explosive music of Cannonball from his first session as leader in 1955 through work with Miles Davis to the soul-jazz of the late 1960s. An all-star band with vocals from Delee Dube, one of today’s foremost gifted vocalists on the London scene.

Support is from YAATRI, a five piece jazz crossover quintet fronted by vocalist Bethany Herrington, who has been performing in Leeds over the past few years in various bands such as B-ahwe, Lausse the Cat, and The Young Wizard. Our music is influenced by contemporary jazz, the rhythms of India, the emotive qualities of the Scandinavian jazz tradition, and the energy of rock and roll.
