Leeds Lit Fest presents

THE DARE LIBERTY LECTURE 2020: ANN PETTIFOR, THE CASE FOR THE GREEN NEW DEAL. Every year Opera North and the University of Leeds present their annual Liberty Lecture, a talk from a thinker and writer on a theme concerning contemporary ideas of liberty and freedom, whether political, economic or social. This year the writer and academic Ann Pettifor speaks on the Green New Deal, arguing that to protect the future of life on earth, we need to do more than just reimagine the economy—we have to change everything. One of the seminal thinkers of the programme that helped ignite the US Green New Deal campaign, Ann Pettifor explains how we can afford what we can do, and what we need to do, before it is too late.

“COOLLY AUTHORITATIVE, SOBERLY TRENCHANT, UNEXPECTEDLY COMPELLING.” – ZOE WILLIAMS, GUARDIAN.

Ann Pettifor is the Director of Prime (Policy Research in Macroeconomics), an Honorary Research Fellow at City University, and a Fellow of the New Economics Foundation.
